Acupuncture:

Acupuncture can be done at any age. Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the skin. Children respond quickly to acupuncture and start to feel better right away. These needles are inserted into acupuncture points on the body. The points lie along meridians and are pools of energy that are known to produce healing. We use a very gentle technique when inserting needles into the skin and perform shallow insertion of those needles. There is usually very little pain involved. Retention time of needles varies with each individual patient. The use of needles is optional: if your child is uncomfortable with the needles, we can use another effective technique.

Scratching a point:

This technique may be used on young children in place of insertion of the needles.

Acupressure:

Acupressure is pressure on an acupuncture point. This is done with fingers or a small non-invasive tool. The point can be held or massaged.

Magnet therapy:

Magnets can be used on the acupuncture points. Magnets improve the circulation of energy in the body and have a healing effect.

Auricular (ear) treatments:

Needles are sometimes inserted in the ear area or small metal balls on an adhesive are applied to ear points. The ear contains a map of the whole body and is a very useful way to treat problems.

Food therapy:

Eating habits can be a cause of disease in the body. Often, simple changes in diet can have a dramatic effect on health.

Tui Na / Chinese medical massage:

Bodywork may be a part of your treatment. Some conditions respond well to touch, massage, or rubbing techniques on certain areas of the body.

Tuning forks:

The vibration and pitch of tuning forks has proven to be useful in treating a variety of ailments.

Education:

It is part of our mission to educate families and patients about holistic medicine and it's benefits.

Cupping:

Sometimes cupping is used to apply suction on certain points (mainly on the back). This technique helps promote circulation and relieves pain.
